Late Night Worship

We did a late night worship time then went out to the lawn in the dark and got to gaze up at the stars while being led in a great worship time exalting the majesty of God.

Hear O Israel

The Lord is Our God
The Lord is One
Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. And love your neighbor as yourself.

The Shema

Shema Israel. Adonai elohenu. Adonai Echad. (sp?)
We say the Shema each morning and evening to reinforce a couple of the cardinal principles of Wildwood. Love God. Love Others.

Testimony Time

Each meal has a testimony from one of the students. Davis shared before dinner last night. He said some great things and is clearly passionate about sharing the Gospel at his school.

Patriotism

We say the pledge and put the flag up and take it down as a group each day. We also opray for our country and its leaders. We're definitely thankful that God has allowed us to live in a country where we can have a place like Wildwood that we can come and openly worship God and spend time in His beautiful creation together as a community of believers.

Tubesock Tuesday!

Not too much more to say here...

Our home for the week

Just in case you're wondering, here's one of our tents.

Miter & Kittel

James played the role of a Jewish father for our seder meal. He got to wear the Miter and Kittel and helped out.

Gabby too!

Logan's Plunger

Plunge This!

Every day, someone fron each team is picked as the most servant like. On Monday, three of our students stood out to the Hume staff as exhibiting a Christ-like servant spirit! Our students are amazing, (but you already knew that, didn't you?)

Freetime

Free time at Wildwood is very relaxing. Mostly hanging out.

Ruby Slippers

Tying a knot never seemed so difficult...

The Mighty Moore

Dreaming...

... Of peanut butter & jelly sandwiches!

Comfy beds!

Clearly, he's sleeping quite soundly.

Perhaps an explanation...

So a few of the students decided we needed theme days this year. Obviously Monday ESA "Moustache Monday." I'll be posting more theme pics as the week unfolds.

More Moustache

Moustache Monday!

It took a while

Antoinette was not a fan of the snake, but she eventually came around. :--D

Look close

Click on the photo, look closely, and you'll see that everyone has a snake wrapped around them. Does this make you want to come to Wildwood? (note: snake handling is not mandatory)

Petting Zoo

Using only a rope.

Justin on the wire

Wobbly Woozy

Five trees.
Cables between them.
One rope. Tied around one tree and it can't change. (one minute for us to choose a tree)
We have to get our entire group from the first tree to the last tree without anyone touching the ground.
It's not easy.
We did it!!! Took forever. Very proud of the students who were focused, determined, worked hard, very much worked together. And the entire time, not one hint of negativity from anyone.
We have some amazing students up here.

The Flying Monkeys

Our team name is "The Flying Monkeys." All the teams are named after things in the Wizard of Oz. (I'm glad we didn't get "Ruby Slippers") Ben sort of created our cheer. He's teaching the rest of the group the cheer.

First day reflection

It's been an amazing first day at Wildwood. It's so great to get up here where we're not allowed to have watches. One of the ideas up here is to remove the element of "schedule" from our thinking. There is a schedule, but it's essentially invisible to us. They blow a conch shell when it's time for us to head to the next thing. Sometimes we know what that is, and sometimes we don't.
Not having to worry about the schedule is great for everyone. It allows all of us to just relax and enjoy the day. We started with breakfast (Pancakes, bacon, oatmeal, cereal, yogurt, and fresh fruit - I eat better here than I do at home) then had a quiet time reading through several chapters in John. We're looking at John 15 this week and what the true definition of a disciple is. After time in Scripture, we headed out to morning activities.
Each day we have a different activity. My group had G.I. today. (Group initiative) Hard to explain, so I'll oust some pictures in the morning.
The rest of the day was quite relaxing.
For the evening, Rich Ferria, just back from a trip to the middle east, led us in a Seder. What a beautiful picture of the Gospel! It's amazing how God has been painting such a beautiful picture of the redemption of His people. I'm constantly amazed at who He is and what He has done for me. We truly serve an awesome God!

Soli Deo Gloria!
Rob

Wrangling Amy

So Amy is one of those people who doesn't like to have her picture taken. It took Krista and a few others to wrangle her into a photo opp.

The wonderful Ken Moore

Paul

Monday was Paul's birthday (Paul is one of the Hume staff). Since Paul's favorite color is green, James decorated his hands in green sharpie to celebrate.

Cleaning up after dinner

First night worship

Another stream crossing

Under a few obstacles

Through the woods

One person, however...

Jenna had a little mishap. Fortunately, she was totally fine. It was quite an entertaining event.

Many made it safely across the stream.

Headed out

The hike begins

Davis is excited

Davis appears to be excited about our hike up to camp.

Ready for the hike

Finally arrived!

We rounded the last corner and the Wildwood people were there waiting for us. We pull over, unload our luggage, and head up to camp.

Run faster

Of course there's always one person who's just a little bit late getting back to the bus after lunch.

Sonic for lunch!

Ninja!

The rest stop included a quick game of "Ninja!" Always fun.

Rest Stop

So we stopped at our usual rest stop just over the Grapevine. While the students were all working through Krystyl's "Wreck This Journal" I thought I'd have a tasty beverage. I thought
Hey! V8 is a healthy drink!" Then I read the ingredients. The second ingredient was High Fructose Corn Syrup. So much for a healthy drink...

Beware the bus snacks!

Justin has experienced an unfortunate side effect from eating snacks on the bus!

Headed to Camp

We're all loaded up and en route to Wildwood!
